Wendy Long, M.A, LSC, Counseling Intern
Wendy Long is a dedicated and compassionate counselor trainee with over 15 years of experience as a licensed school counselor supporting emotional, social, and academic development. She is passionate about fostering a positive and therapeutic environment where every client feels valued, cared for and understood. Wendy has provided advocacy and support for children and adults within school and community mental health settings. Her approach is client-centered and trauma informed; focusing on building strong relationships and providing individualized support through the lens of the polyvagal theory as well as cognitive behavioral, solution focused, nervous system focused, and personal strength based strategies. She values incorporating mindfulness, self care, the stages of change model and goal setting techniques into her sessions. Wendy specializes in working with individuals experiencing trauma responses, stress, anxiety, panic, and depression. As a counseling intern nearing completion of the clinical mental health masters program at Xavier University, Wendy seeks to expand her outreach within a clinical setting and work synchronously with her clients to develop restorative treatment plans. Wendy has a gracious, warm and gently humorous style and is excited and eager to connect with new clientele.
